2008 Arbor Day National Poster ContestTrees are Terrific… Inside and Out!sponsored by Toyota
Congratulations to Michelle Holiman, 5th grader at Maryetta School in Stilwell, Oklahoma! Michelle won first place for her poster portraying the theme of the 2008 Arbor Day National Poster Contest, “Trees are Terrific… Inside and Out!” Michelle and her family, along with her 5th grade teacher, won an expense-paid trip to Nebraska City, Neb., birthplace of Arbor Day, where they will stay at Lied Lodge & Conference Center during National Awards Weekend, April 25–26, 2008. Michelle will also be awarded a $1,000 savings bond and lifetime membership in the Arbor Day Foundation. The winning teacher, Samilou Smith, will receive $200 for classroom materials. We extend congratulations to 2nd and 3rd Place winners of the 2008 National Poster Contest. Michelle Xu, student at Village School in Princeton Junction, New Jersey, won 2nd place and will be awarded a $500 savings bond. 3rd place winner, Thomas Dunn, of Huntsville, Alabama will be awarded $250 savings bond. A tree will be planted on each of the three winners’ school grounds. The Arbor Day National Poster Contest, sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota, will host their 18th annual contest in 2009. The theme will be, “Trees are Terrific… In Cities and Towns!” The 2009 Activity Guide will be available in the Fall. Thank you to everyone for participating in The Arbor Day National Poster Contest!
