Nebraska City, Nebraska, April 4, 2005—Three new additions to the Tree Adventure at Arbor Day Farm will be dedicated on Saturday, April 30, as part of Arbor Day Weekend 2005. The new attractions are the Hero Gallery, the Exploratory Trail, and the Exploratory Tree House.

“These new offerings will bring guests even closer to nature and to the tree-planting heritage of this special place,” said Doug Farrar, Vice President of Arbor Day Farm. “We opened the Tree Adventure in 2003 with the dedication of the Lied Greenhouse, Woodland Pavilion, and Tree House Trail. With our newest facilities, guests can now get even deeper into the heart of South Table Creek and the surrounding forest. They can explore the stream bed and wildlife found there, visit the Exploratory Tree House, and tour the Hero Gallery, a tree shipping center that is dedicated to the tree-planting heroes of today who are keeping the spirit of Arbor Day alive.”

The dedication will take place at 2:00 p.m. and is open to the public.

The Hero Gallery, with informational panels telling the story of America’s tree planters, lets visitors watch the packaging of Arbor Day Foundation trees for shipment across the country. The Exploratory Trail, a wood-chipped trail nearly two-thirds of a mile long, features the Sandbar and Rocky Ford Bridges, which allow a close-up view of South Table Creek and the forest. The trail leads to the Exploratory Tree House, with its overlook and unique perspective into both the riparian forest and the farm fields beyond.

“The expanded Tree Adventure promises to make Arbor Day 2005 even more memorable for guests of all ages,” Farrar said. “This Arbor Day, I encourage people to come and explore the new attractions at Arbor Day Farm.”

The Tree Adventure is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. Admission is $5.50 for adults and $3.50 for children 4-12, with toddlers free, and with a seedling tree given with each paid admission.
