Mission 4/1 Earth...

One united church on a shared resurrection witness for Planet Earth during 50 great days of greening up, powering down, and shouting out for the environment!

In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, the United Church of Christ has arranged these special ways to plant trees in your community or across the United States. Order your Gift Trees today for planting locally, or give our special Mission 4/1 Earth greeting card to honor friends or family, or to celebrate your local church.

Launching on Easter Monday, April 1, 2013, Mission 4/1 Earth continues through the 50 days of the renewing Easter season, culminating on Pentecost Sunday, May 19.

Our Goals

  1. 100,000 trees planted locally and globally.
  2. 1 million hours of engaged earth care, including clean up, advocacy, and education.
  3. 100,000 letters of environmental advocacy written and sent to elected officials and media.

More About Mission 4/1 Earth

We in the United Church of Christ are called to live with hope. Mission 4/1 Earth is an opportunity to examine and change our patterns of behavior and to deepen our understanding and engagement of earth care and environmental justice in the process. It is an intensive, concerted effort: the first of thousands of small and big steps toward ensuring a greener future for planet Earth and a greener faith for us as followers of Jesus Christ.
