How to Conduct a Street Tree Inventory

Tree City USA Bulletin #23—Sources for More Information

There is considerable information available online by typing “street tree inventories’ into your favorite search engine. Another way to access information is by using the search feature at the veritable encyclopedia of community tree information.

Publications

A number of articles have appeared in magazines such as Tree Care Industry (Nov. 2001) and Journal of Arboriculture (regularly). A current textbook that devotes an entire chapter to street tree inventories and a helpful bibliography is: Urban Forestry — Planning and Managing Urban Greenspaces by Robert W. Miller. This useful book should be part of every urban forester and tree board member’s reference library. It can be purchased at amazon.com.

Note: When ordering any book, please visit Arbor Day Books to access Amazon.com. A portion of your purchase price will be returned to support the educational programs of the Arbor Day Foundation. Thank you.
