Bulletin #51: Trees & Saftey
To Fell a Tree by Jeff Jepson with illustrations by Bryan Kotwica
This 160-page book contains more than 200 illustrations. While it is not generally recommended that non-professionals fell trees, this book is also an excellent source of information about safety when using a chain saw to limb and cut up trees that are on the ground. Available through the Web site store of the International Association of Arboriculture, or Amazon.
Homeowner's Complete Guide to the Chainsaw: A Chainsaw Pro Shows You How to Safely and Confidently Handle Everything from Trimming Branches and Felling Trees to Splitting and Stacking Wood by Brian J. Ruth and Jen Ruth
Again, we do not encourage lay people to undertake the dangerous job of felling trees, but this 200-page book covers a broad range of chain saw use and safety. Available through Amazon.
Please remember that when ordering any book through amazon.com, if you enter that Web site by first going to Arbor Day Online Books a portion of each order is returned to help support the programs of the Arbor Day Foundation.
