Rachel Carson Award
Caitlyn Bouse—Elmhurst, Illinois
Elmhurst Academy was certified as a Nature Explore classroom as a direct result of Bouse’s leadership, and she also serves as Nature Curriculum Specialist for the school. She was named Formal Environmental Educator of the Year by the Environmental Education Association of Illinois for her role mentoring other teachers in the joys and benefits of outdoor education. Her involvement with the Children and Nature Network and the Nature Action Collaborative for Children, along with the many professional relationships she has nurtured, allow her to continually draw on the best practices in nature education.
