Celebrate the Tree-Planters Holiday by Visiting Arbor Day Family Festival 2009 at Arbor Day Farm

Nebraska City, Neb. (April 14, 2009) – There's no better place to celebrate Arbor Day weekend than Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City. Arbor Day Farm's Tree Adventure attraction will be hosting the Arbor Day Family Festival 2009 on Saturday and Sunday, April 24-25, in which children and adults of all ages can experience nature first-hand. The Family Festival runs from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.

Special events include a J. Sterling Morton reenactment on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Tree Adventure attraction. Morton started the tree-planters holiday in 1872 at Nebraska City, and Arbor Day Farm was part of Morton's Nebraska City estate. Visitors will also take part in tree climbing and cross-cut sawing, meet Carly Cardinal, see wildlife from Pioneers Park Nature Center, and make a kite from recycled paper.

At the Tree Adventure, visitors will get a close-up look at nature on the Discovery Ride, climb a 50-foot-high tree house, hike the Exploratory Trails and see Trees in the Movies.

Arbor Day Farm's apple pie and apple cider will be served in the Pie Garden Café. Wine tastings of Arbor Day Farm wines will be held at the Apple House.
