Joplin, Missouri (April 11, 2014)--The Joplin Community Tree Recovery Campaign -- a joint effort of the Arbor Day Foundation and the Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center -- continues a multi-year campaign by providing 4,000 trees free of charge to Joplin residents on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center, 201 W. Riviera Drive Suite A, Joplin, 64804, to replace trees damaged and destroyed by the May 2011 tornado.

The Joplin Community Tree Recovery Campaign was launched in 2012 and has distributed 18,000 trees to date.
This is one of a series of Community Tree Recovery program events across the nation led by the Arbor Day Foundation.

"We are pleased to return to Joplin to help residents as they rebuild their community," said Dan Lambe, vice president of programs at the Arbor Day Foundation. "Planting trees is a powerfully inspiring experience that will help to bring hope and healing back to the good people of Joplin."

Trees can be assets to a community when properly planted and maintained. They help to improve the visual appeal of a neighborhood or shopping district, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants, and provide wildlife habitat, among many other benefits.
