Lafayette, Indiana, resident Gregory Shaner was the first place grand prize winner for the Arbor Day Foundation's recent Volunteer Center contest, with a total of 86 hours of conservation-oriented volunteering. David Ruyak of Reading, Pennsylvania, was the second place winner with 48 volunteer hours, and Charline Bridgeman of Evansville, Indiana, was third place with 19 volunteer hours.

The continued partnership between Wells Fargo and the Arbor Day Foundation has resulted in 120,000 trees being planted to date in national forests and more than 7,000 tree seedlings distributed in communities across the country, including households recovering from last year's tornado in Joplin, Missouri.

Students and staff at LaSalle University planted trees from the Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota this morning, in celebration of the campus commitment to caring for and maintaining its urban forest. LaSalle University, a four-year Catholic institution, is working toward 2012 Tree Campus USA recognition.

Arbor Day Farm was the recipient of a 2012 award from the Nebraska Tourism Commission for the "It's more than..." campaign. The outstanding tourism campaign award recognized Arbor Day Farm's creative initiative to showcase the 260-acre property, including family activities, leisure and meeting space at Lied Lodge & Conference Center.
