Students and staff at the University of Colorado planted 35 trees from the Arbor Day Foundation this morning, in celebration of the university's commitment to tree care and conservation. This is the second year of Tree Campus USA recognition for the University of Colorado. Today, 35 Gambel Oak trees were planted along a new bike path east of the Coors Event Center.

Nebraska City's Applejack Festival will be held this upcoming weekend, September 15 and 16, and the Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure offers plenty of apples for those looking for a traditional orchard experience. This weekend's festival marks the 44th annual celebration of the apple harvest, commemorated throughout the Nebraska City community.

Warm winter temperatures and a dry summer season yielded a slightly earlier-than-expected apple harvest at Arbor Day Farm this fall. Arbor Day Farm will open its apple orchards for fall harvest tomorrow, Saturday, September 1, according to Orchard Manager Adam Howard.

Nearing the one-year anniversary of the most destructive wildfire in Texas history, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Arbor Day Foundation and Texas A&M Forest Service today appealed for help by launching the Lost Pines Forest Recovery Campaign, a multi-year public-private partnership to raise money to plant more than 4 million trees on public and private land.
