Grow love this Valentine’s Day with a sustainable gift that lasts. Plant Trees
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge Earns National Certification as Nature Explore Classroom
Nebraska City, Neb. (April 1, 2011) – Chaco, a leading manufacturer of outdoor footwear, is celebrating the start of spring by partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant a tree for each pair of Chaco shoes or sandals sold during April.
Chaco will plant up to 60,000 trees through its "Buy One Get One Tree" program. Donations by Chaco will plant trees in the Pike National Forest in Colorado and the Moss Island Wildlife Area in Tennessee.
During the promotion, Chaco will encourage its retailers to match Chaco's donation to the Arbor Day Foundation, leading to even more trees being planted. The Arbor Day Foundation will work with the U.S. Forest Service and the Tennessee Forestry Division to plant the Chaco trees this spring.
"Thanks to Chaco's continued partnership, we will be able to plant much-needed trees in two areas of the country," said Kevin Sander, director of corporate partnerships with the Arbor Day Foundation. "These trees will provide cleaner air and water, habitat for wildlife and beauty for everyone to enjoy for years to come. By planting trees, Chaco is demonstrating a strong commitment to helping our world."
This is the second year Chaco has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees to celebrate Arbor Day, Earth Day and the beginning of warm weather in much of the U.S.
"Purchasing Chaco products during the month of April allows everyone involved to contribute to the protection of our natural areas and earth," said Whitney Connor, marketing manager at Chaco."
