Trees improve the world wherever they’re planted. But by planting trees with a focus on locations where there is a specific need, these projects can have an even greater impact on our future.
With more than 50 years of experience, we plant with intention and integrity. Our science-based approach pinpoints forests and communities that would benefit most from trees. Then, our global network of local planting partners gets to work planting wherever there is a need.
We can’t meet this moment alone. So we never do.
There is strength in our numbers. We connect the world’s largest network of tree planters so that whether with shovels or support, anyone can make a difference from wherever they are. It’s how we’re plant at the speed of a changing planet to positively impact climate, communities, and biodiversity.

Climate
Trees absorb carbon from the atmosphere, and when planted at scale, they are a key tool in addressing climate change. Since 1972, we’ve planted more than half a billion trees to shape a more hopeful future. And we’re just getting started.
The Brazilian Amazon is facing a crisis. Large-scale deforestation, compounded by wildfires and other natural disasters, means that today, the Amazon releases more carbon than it can absorb.
Through our reforestation efforts in this area, we are working to reestablish tree canopy here at speed and scale, and bolster dedicated preservation efforts to reverse this trend.
Offsetting carbon with greater purpose
One way we accelerate the positive impact we can have on the climate is through carbon reforestation projects that plant trees today, while setting them up for the greatest long-term impact. Forestry carbon projects grow layered economic and environmental benefits—supporting local farmers’ livelihoods, restoring watersheds and wildlife habitat, all while fighting climate change for us all.
Community
Trees make communities stronger. Neighborhood trees have the power to make communities healthier, cooler, and more resilient. We plant with intention in areas most in need of canopy and green spaces. And we empower individuals everywhere to plant trees in their own yards, to bolster the collective impact trees can have in communities when we plant together.
In a community with only 5% tree canopy coverage, trees make an outsized impact, especially in low- to moderate-income areas.
Through tree distributions and engaging the next generation of planters, community trees in Bridgeport are being set up to thrive while cooling urban heat and connecting neighborhoods.
Community impact by the numbers
We’ve engaged tree planters in 95% of U.S. communities to bring the benefits of trees home for millions.

Biodiversity
Forests are home to more than 80% of life on Earth. In both cities and forests, we plant with a focus on the interconnected survival of animals, plants, and people.
Every year, millions of monarch butterflies find winter refuge in the oyamel fir forests of Michoacán, Mexico. However, nearly a quarter of this already-limited habitat has been deforested.
Replanting this priority region not only means the survival of the migratory monarch, but all the plants and animals who depend on them for food and pollination.
