Arbor Day Foundation Bringing Santa to Downtown Lincoln for Free Holiday Event

LINCOLN, Nebraska (December 5, 2022) – The Arbor Day Foundation will host a free holiday event at Tower Square at 13th and P streets featuring a visit from Santa Claus as the Lincoln-based nonprofit’s 50th anniversary year comes to a close.

"The Arbor Day Foundation has inspired people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees every day for the last 50 years, but extra special memories are made for many each year while decorating holiday trees with loved ones,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “For us, there’s no better way to celebrate trees this holiday season than with the Lincoln community that has supported our efforts to make the planet a better place through tree planting for the last 50 years.”

“Santa’s Wonder-Full Woods” will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 10. At the event, families can meet Santa, enjoy hot chocolate, decorate ornaments, and learn more about the Arbor Day Foundation’s impact around the world.

The Arbor Day Foundation has planted nearly 500 million trees around the world since 1972, all from its headquarters at 12th and P streets. The nonprofit has decorated several real evergreen trees on the north side of the Square to highlight its mission, as well as the environmental benefits of choosing live trees for the holidays. The trees came from a local farm, Prairie Woods, and will be donated to Lincoln Parks and Recreation to use in lakes across the city for fish and wildlife habitat.
